Habitat Happenings
September 2016: The vote is in! Member were asked where our habitat dollars are spent:
- 47.5% Food plots on Wildlife Management Areas for all to use and enjoy.
- 36.5% on Land Acquisitions to add on to adjacent (current) wildlife management areas.
- 16% on Native prairie restoration on private property.
January was a busy meeting month for Habitat. We met with Isanti County Soil and Water to discuss joining forces and using Federal, State and PF monies to put habitat on the ground. On January 5, we met with the DNR and discussed where and how many food plots would be placed. Isanti County PF will be accessing some of our food plots to see if they might make it two years (due to the mild winter). If that happens, it would free up resources to go other places. As winter rolls on, we will continue to access our present food plots.
Sept 2015: Budget for 2016 plantings was set at $1,000 for seed.
August 2015: Corn is 9 feet tall, and the deer have been eating it.
